The Culinary Training Program

Our Culinary Training Program equips students with professional kitchen skills and life tools that restore confidence, purpose, and connection to their communities.

What is the objective of the program?

In addition to equipping students with practical culinary skills, our larger aim is to help restore each student’s identity, sense of purpose, and direction. By addressing cycles of hopelessness, harmful choices, and regret, we seek to prepare students not only for employment but for healthy relationships and renewed engagement within their communities.

How long is the Culinary Training Program?

The program is a minimum of three months, though it is not limited to that timeframe. Most students complete the program within five to twelve months, depending on their individual progress and needs.

What is involved in the training?

The Culinary Training Program teaches the skills needed to work in a professional kitchen, along with life skills that extend far beyond it. Training includes:

        • Proper dishwashing setup and sanitation
        • SERVSafe food safety and preparation certification

        • Grill and cold bar station setup, execution, and cleaning
        • Cooking from recipes using accurate measurements
        • Problem-solving, conflict resolution, and working with others of varying personalities and abilities
        • Creative expression through the culinary arts
        • Learning to live respectfully, sacrificially, and openly with others in a safe, supportive environment
        • Discipleship through mentoring relationships, Bible study, and prayer
